Would you like to LINK the Technology community to Education?

 

TAG Education Collaborative is launching a new initiative – TAG Education Link – to connect educators dedicated to science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM) with the technology community.  We need to prepare our students better in these critical fields to create a future workforce that can innovate and compete in a global economy.  However, there is a disconnect between many of the needs from the education community and the available resources from the business community.  TAG Education Link is designed to improve workforce readiness for our future workforce by linking technology businesses with the needs of the education community to provide relevance and “real world” examples for students studying STEM topics.

 

What is a STEM Coordinator?  We are looking for contacts within the TAG membership that can promote STEM Education needs within your organization and provide the following assistance –

 

·       TAG-Ed Link main contact to review educator needs and look within your organization for solutions

·       Publicize Volunteer activities within your company for STEM education initiatives

·       Identify STEM Speakers within your company and coordinate Site Visits

·       Address Field Trip Requests and coordinate school visits

·       Assist in TAG-Ed Summer Internship Coordination

·       Identify Mentors for Career Days at local schools

·       Passion…for STEM Education and Students

 

How much time is required?  That is up to you.  We are looking for individuals with a passion for education that can get others involved.  The connection can be as small as organizing a speaker for a classroom on a topic of interest or as large as coordinating a Field Trip to your facility for students to see “The Real World.”

 

Will I get to work with students?  There will be plenty of opportunities to work directly with students but this role is mainly about connecting your organization to those opportunities.  You can be a part of the activity or not depending on your work schedule and personal preference.

Where do we make connections?  TAG Education Link will identify education programs and their needs.  All you need to do is find the opportunity that fits your organization and assist in coordinating with the educators.
