President Obama announced the creation of a new, national corps comprised of the nation’s best STEM educators. The STEM Master Teacher corps will begin with 2500 Master Teachers and expand to 10,000 over the next four years. Membership requires a multi-year commitment; educators will work to expand STEM initiatives by developing new lesson plans and strategies to improve student learning.

“If America is going to compete for the jobs and industries of tomorrow, we need to make sure our children are getting the best education possible. Teachers matter, and great teachers deserve our support,” President Obama said. 

The administration also announced its dedication of $100 million to STEM education in order to develop high-quality career ladders in order to identify and cultivate highly effective STEM teachers.
